  • Perry to Crack Down on Speeders in School Zones with Automated Cameras for 2023 School Year

Speed cameras now installed in Perry, GA school zones.

Are you ready, Perry drivers? As of January 6, 2023, automated school zone enforcement cameras have been installed at Matt Arthur Elementary School and Perry Middle School and will be enforced starting August 1 for next school year. This means speeding through these designated school zones will result in hefty fines coming your way in the mail!

But before you start panicking, here’s the scoop on how enforcement will work. Starting on 8/1, there will be a 30-day warning period where drivers will receive warning notices in the mail if they’re caught on camera exceeding the posted speed limit by more than 10 miles per hour. This is your chance to slow down and get used to the new enforcement tool.

But, come September, the warnings will be over. If you’re caught speeding in a school zone, the first violation will result in a $75 fine and subsequent violations will be $125.

Keeping our kids safe in Perry is a priority for every parent, and that means making sure drivers are obeying the speed limit in school zones. Let’s all do our part to keep Perry’s kids safe, and slow down in those school zones! Hopefully these camera will be a helpful tool in service to that goal.
