  • Spring Carnival at Galleria Mall, May 5-14

Are you ready for some carnival fun?? The Galleria Mall parking lot is about to transform with rides, games, and entertainment! Starting this Friday, May 5th, through Sunday, May 14th, the carnival is coming to the Houston County Galleria, in the parking lot in front of Belk facing Watson Boulevard.

Rides take 3-5 tickets each, which cost $1-$1.50 depending on how many you buy, but unlimited ride wristbands are available every day! Wristbands cost $20 Mon-Thurs, $25 on Friday and $30 on weekends.

Regular hours are 5-10pm, but on Friday and Saturday, the carnival will stay open until 11 pm so you can keep the fun going even longer! And the carnival opens at 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays for the early birds.

There will be rides of course, including the classic Ferris wheel, as well as games and food (TWO WORD: FUNNEL. CAKE.) – the carnival has something for everyone!

It ain’t the GA National Fair, but it’ll whet your appetite for a while without the crowds if you’re in the mood for some family fun!

  • Galleria Cinema reopens over half-capacity after water main burst

Catch a movie in the Heart City tonight!

Our local theater on Watson Boulevard had to shut down last week due to a water main break. You might have been wondering if they’re back open and if the showtimes online now are valid since their website doesn’t mention the issue. But don’t worry, Houston County Insider has you covered!

We’re happy to report that the Galleria Cinema is now back open and operating at a little over half capacity with 9 of it’s 15 screens in operation. The showtimes online are accurate, but you’ll notice there are fewer than normal – and now you know why! Also, sorry to say, the extra-fancy LX screening room is one of the ones out of commission for now.

Enjoy your night at the movies, HoCo Insiders!

  • Galleria Cinema Closed Indefinitely – Here’s Why!

Galleria Cinemas closed until further notice

Looks like the Galleria Mall and its movie theater had to cancel all their plans on Monday (1/9/23) due to a water main break! Rumors were flying on social media that the mall’s cinema had flooded on Saturday night, and Georgia Theater Company, the owner of the cinema, eventually confirmed the news on their website.

The entire mall closed its doors for an emergency water shutoff and the Centerville Fire Department helped with evacuation efforts. But don’t worry, movie lovers! While the theater may be closed indefinitely for repairs, you can still catch a film at the Georgia Theater Company’s Houston Lakes location on Lake Joy Road in the meantime.
